9.5.08 - 21:00 |
The GB junior team
has won the Junior European Championships!! Dan Keatings came 1st overall and Dan Purvis 2nd, with Sam Oldham in 7th. Reece only did pommels and p bars but has qualified for the pommels final in 3rd place with 14.975, a score that would have got him into the senior finals! GB has 8 finalists in the apparatus finals - this is the most successful GB team ever. Congratulations to Reece and Barry. |
|
9.5.08 - 17:47 |
3rd round has now started -
great start for
Reece scoring
a superb 14.95 on pommels and looking very good for a place in the final. (highest score
in the first 2 rounds of the junior competition was 13.65) |
|
9.5.08 - 17:30 |
Round 2 now complete and
Italy and Andrea Cingolani still lead with Netherlands in 2nd
place. This round saw some familiar faces from the competitions in
Porec, Croatia, with Croatian and Slovenian gymnasts competing. Round
3 starts at 5pm UK time. |
|
9.5.08 - 14:28 |
After the first round
of the Junior Team competition, Italy are leading with 247.45, with the
Italian gymnast Andrea Cingolani leading the all round standings
on 83.550. GB compete in the 3rd round, starting on pommels, with
Dan Keatings,
Dan Purvis
and
Sam Oldham
expected to do all 6 pieces,
Reece
doing pommels and P bars and
Theo completing the line up
with floor, vault, rings and high bar. |
|
8.5.08 - 21:30 |
GB finished in 9th
place, 2 marks behind Italy. The winning team was Russia, then Germany
and Ukraine. Kristian Thomas
qualified for the floor final in 4th place with 15.225 but unfortunately
Louis Smith
fell on pommels so didn't make the final. GB's highest score on high bar
was 13.975 - which our own
Sam Hunter
can regularly beat when fully fit! The highest all round score was from
Maxim Deviatovski on 89.85. None of the British team did all 6
pieces. 9th place is an improvement for GB but who knows what could have been if they had had a replacement for Ruslan in the team. Tomorrow, it's the turn of the Juniors. |
|
8.5.08 - 16:34 |
At the end of the second
round, Van Wammes is still leading the all round competition, with
Bulgaria leading the team competition on 253.275, just ahead of
Netherlands and Poland. |

competition finished with Jeffrey Wammes of Netherlands in first place
on 86.05. Next round due to finish at 4pm our time - but all the main
contenders are in round 3, along with GB. |
